What to expect after biopsy
As the FNA biopsy is a minimally invasive procedure, you return to your daily routine right after it. There are usually no restrictions, it is only recommended not to do heavy physical activities. The risk of side effects or complications after biopsy is very small. You may rarely get a bruising at the place of the needle.
After the sample is sent to the laboratory, it will then take 3-5 days for the histologist to examine the sample and write down a conclusion, which is sent to your doctor. When the doctor receives the conclusion from the laboratory, we will contact you and ask you to come to a consultation. The doctor will interpret for you the results of the biopsy and will consult you on further treatment.
